Using a relay allows you to run smaller gauge wire to the switch inside the cabin. Basically how I understood it, the relay is a switch that is triggered by another switch usually inside the cabin.

But instead of wiring it from the switch, can I cut into the wire thats runing along the engine bay and do it based on this schematic?
