Re: Light Bars And Air Dams Now In Stock

Does anyone else think $479 is a bit much for a plain air deflector that fits on our trucks?

I mean...while I dont have the skill or tools to make such a product...the cost of materials cant warrant that price. Is it just because there is not anything else out there without the holes or with holes that is as nice right now???

I will pass....it looks nice...sure it functions nice....but I will rig a Thule or Yakima deflector first. I could see $175 maybe if it is powdercoated with stainless fittings, sound dampening and warrantied for life against rust, etc. But $479 for a wind deflector alone???

I agree they make good products but keep looking for small print on "reach around" for the price of this.

We lowered the price to $349 on these about 4-5 months ago because they were so popular and we were able to nearly double our orders on them - if you check on our website and online store the new low price is reflected. I'm editing the first post now

Re: Light Bars And Air Dams Now In Stock

Thanks for the update. I am not trying to be a prick or anything...I just think that is a fair chunk of change for what equates to sheetmetal with powdercoating. Other than your reputation on other products and the fact it was purpose built for the stock roof rack....What makes your air deflector without any light cutouts worth that price? A comparison of your product versus another (no names needed) or some way for me to evaluate its quality and sway me to part with now $349 to purchase one. Like I said, I have no hidden agenda...no axe to grind...nothing. I just find it expensive even at that price. Thanks. If you would prefer I take this to a phone call or email that is fine as well as I dont want to impact anyone elses decision process on your product but am on a fact finding mission of my own to see if I can justify the price with the product... Thanks again for your response.

Kinda late for that, isnt it? If it was just sheetmetal it would flap in the wind, it still has the same tubular structure behind it to reinforce it against the wind as our 2 and 4 light models, just without the welded on light tabs on that particular bar, thus the initial lower price. As of now, they all come with the same bar (with light tabs), so if you decide later to add lights, only the airdam with the appropriate number of holes would need to be purchased.

Re: Light Bars And Air Dams Now In Stock

[quote=RocKrawler;412527]Instructions for installation:

1. Remove the T40 Torx front bolts on the roof racks 2 forward legs, being careful to not allow the threaded inserts to fall into the headliner area underneath. If the inserts do fall in, removal of the headliner will be required to recover them and re-install. (You may use a piece of wire bent at the end into a hook shape to retain them in one hole before removing the second bolt on each side). Carefully loosen the remaining bolts on the middle and rear legs of the factory rack but do not remove them completely. This allows the rack to be lifted up in front enough to unbolt the end caps from the factory rack tube.

I understand that there are two Torx front bolts that hold each post of the rack down on the drivers side and passenger side. Is the threaded inserts, as describe above, one piece for both bolts or two separate pieces, one for each bolt? I am wondering how to use the wire to retain these threaded inserts if they are separate pieces. Thanks for your help.

Re: Light Bars And Air Dams Now In Stock

The threaded insert part is 1 piece, with threads on each end, surrounded by a seal, and connected by a small flat piece of metal. As long as you remove them with a ratchet or similar and dont use a ton of downward pressure you should have zero problems. If you use a small impact driver (like the shop guy that installed mine) then the vibrations and impact will jar the inserts loose and it falls into the headliner, and you'll be puling the headliner down (like I had to) to fish the threaded piece out and reinstall from below. Not an impossible task, but one you'd rather avoid given the choice!

Re: Light Bars And Air Dams Now In Stock

Personally, I wouldn't spend $349 for just an airdam. But, since it's being utilized as a lightbar that doesn't increase my existing clearance height, it was the best solution I found, at the time, for my stock roof rack. For me, the price was definitely justified. The WAAG baskets are an option now, but I'm very happy with what's going on up top.

Re: Light Bars And Air Dams Now In Stock

well....unless someone else builds a quality air dam without light holes....looks like I will be paying whatever they cost as well. LOL I like a good deal and still think it is a bit high....but I wont buy CHEAP CRAP for less either....as it ends up costing you more in long run.

thanks for your replies and my questions and comments...it was muc appreciated.
