Can't say I disagree... But I 'spose that's why we have All-Pro!

Terry: Mark me down for the first kit for starting this thread

Re: Rear Diff/E-locker Breather Kit

After spending over 4 hours in 6 auto parts stores and 2 hardware stores I still dont have what I wanted to end up with. Our custom adapters/fittings would be too much to charge, and between the auto parts stores cheap plastic fittings and somewhat bulky brass fittings from hardware shops, there isnt anyting I could offer that you couldnt get locally for less. Between the brass fittings (I hate plastic), hose and factory Toyota barb adapter & breather plug, there's no way I could sell this as a kit or $50 (my cost on the hose alone was almost $25). Instead I'll outline what I used and offer the factory Toyota parts for those that want to stay away from plastic fittings like I did.

Re: Rear Diff/E-locker Breather Kit

Here is a shot of the fittings I used - a brass 1/8" all female Tee, and 3 different size barb fittings:

1/8" for the e-locker hose
1/4" for the new diff barb fitting (replacing the factory breather plug on the housing)
5/16 for the new remote breather plug

The remote breather can be located either in the engine compartment, or in the fuel filler compartment. On my truck I feel the fuel filler area is plenty high off the ground, at least as good of clearance as the engine compartment area, and less hose to run (meaning less chance of chafing and wearing a hole in it, or it gettng pinched somehow and defeating the purpose of the breather). Since the new Toyota breather is larger than both the e-locker and diff fitings combined, it is plenty to handle both jobs by itself - and since both fittings use the same style factory plug it doesnt make sense to run 2 lengths of hose to 2 seperate filters of the same type.

Again, yes this could be done much cheaper with vinyl hose and plastic fittings, I just figure why chance a $1300 differential and locker to cheap plastic tees and fitings. The Toyota factory breather plug is nylon, so thats going to be plenty strong.

The top breather with the tiny 1/8" fitting is the stock one off the e-locker - just pull it off and replace the existing hose with a longer section if you want to move it up seperately of the diff vent
