High Clearance Tail Pipe

How much does the high clearance tail pipe change the exhaust note?

Re: High Clearance Tail Pipe

It doesnt change it much, it exits down instead of back at an angle so the reflected sound off the ground, some people can tell the difference, some cant.
I noticed a bigger difference re-routing the crossover tube behind the transfer case myself, because the tubing became 2.25" consistent between the cat & Y-pipe. It seemed to get a tad louder and felt like a little extra power at the same time (The stock tubing changes diameters a few times on the factory pipe, cant be good for flow... ).
When I installed my Flowmaster 40 series, THAT made the big difference in sound, and the tailpipe seemed to amplify that with ground reflection more than the stock exhaust note. Now it sounds pissed off when you stomp the gas pedal.

Re: High Clearance Tail Pipe

Do you have any pics of your flowmaster? I was thinking of maybe a 50 series because I don't want it super loud. What size and offset do we need?

Re: High Clearance Tail Pipe

There are a bunch of threads with the part number - I believe its a 2.25" in/out with offset inlet, centered out IIRC
