Allpro and the 35s.

I'm confused and impressed.

How is it that you guys manage to FIT (not just jam) 35 inch tires under your rigs? The amazing sandstorm on the site now is rocking 35 inch km2s (and getting air), and the black one that came up for sale looks like it had 35s as well...

My question is, how? Countless other posts and buildup threads hint that the limit is about 33s @ 12.5 inch wide.

I understand that the sandstorm has the additional 2" per side, but still, there are a load of rigs on your site with out.

if anyone has a spare minute it would be nice to know (for those of us who are carefully planning buildups) the ins and outs of how its done. It makes for a very sharp look, and seems to still be functional from the pictures. (with only minor rubbing on the plastic wheel wells when stuffed).

Thanks in advance

Re: Allpro and the 35s.

We use a 35x12.5R17 on a 17x8.5" rim with 3.75" backspacing combined with high clearance All Pro bumpers, a body mount chop up front and rear 2" bumpstop drops in back - works great. The sandstorm uses the long travel kit - its not the 2" wider that halps as much as the extra inch of lift you can get out of it (4" vs. 3" on the standard travel) but my old black FJ that just sold had no issues as long as the tires were BFG's.
Keep in mind not all 35's are the same - I am a tire nut and have tried 6 different sets on my black rig before it sold, the BFG's fit best with little or no rubbing depending on tread pattern. The Pro Comp XMT & Goodyear MTR's are both a bit taller & wider than the BFG despite the same size on the sidewall, but I cant recommend enought the new BFG MT KM2 for all around performance (stay away from the older BFG MT/KM design like the plague - you definitely want the KM2 tread, the difference between shooting a bullet and throwing it).

Re: Allpro and the 35s.

Did you try any swampers or procomp's X Terrain's? I'm looking at TrXus mt, SSR's, and procomp's X terrains. I know super swamper tends to run big. Does it make a difference in height, if you run WE or Fox shocks in the for the lift?
thanks, Mike

Re: Allpro and the 35s.

Perfect! Just what I was looking for.
I wondered what exactly the "bumpstop extension" was getting at. I've been excited about the km2s since the release, so I'm glad to hear that a self proclaimed tire nut promotes them.

What did your black rig have for suspension? I think I remember fox all the way around right?

Edit: asked.
(I can see this thread growing... quickly)

Re: Allpro and the 35s.

Thank you, I was wondering the same thing! I ordered the All Pro video and noticed that most of the people were running 35s. Are they all running BFG? I would love to know how the long travel kit rides overall. I currently have an OME lift and most likely won't be replacing it for a while, but that kit looks tempting...

Re: Allpro and the 35s.

I have seen 35" BFG on a OME 3" with a body mount chop! Looked pretty good. I am not sure of the width and was suprised by how easy he said the chop was! I am runnig 285's and don't rub but who does'nt always want to go bigger?

Re: Allpro and the 35s.

I am runnning, KM 2 35's on my rig and have loved them with no problems. I do have the rear bump stops and I cranked the 3" Fox Shocks in the front up to 4" and only had to touch the body mount with a grinder to get clearance at the most severe conditions.
By the way I will be selling my KM2's soon with about 15K on them as I am moving up to 37's

Very nice pic! I'm looking to upgrade from 35" to 37" on 17" steelies. I have no issues what so ever with rubbing now and I've stuffed them in every situation. I have backed my rig on a ramp and measured all sides, I may have to do just a little more trimming to fit 37"s.
