Re: El Camino Diablo feeler

Then let me be the first to say I will absolutely be there. I have all the equipment required for this and will have firearms with me just in case.

I am pumped that we are going to make this run!!!

There have been a few mentions of this in other threads. I have been wanting to do this run for some time, but don't want to do it alone for it's awesome remoteness and length.

I hear it's 2 days for sure, 3+ days if you poke around. Any takers?
How about an edit of the original post (above) for a list. A quick and not complete check of the posts show

tibaal89
RockFJ
CruiserAZ
Pumbaa --------- 2 maybe 3
1leglance
Diamond Dave
homedad
Nevadaesh ------ 1 and 1 dog
cruzinwyo

as "absolutely, I am going." status. Anymore?

X2 for the number of happy faces. (don't know how to get them here)

Re: El Camino Diablo feeler

I have a TOPO of El Camino Diablo and wondering if we will be entering the trail south of Why at Gunsight Wash? Or do we start just south of Ajo?

I want to plug in a bunch of waypoints to download into my GPS. Most of the road is really well marked on the map because it is a boundary for wilderness areas for much of the way.

The west end termination is not clear also. Though it appears to end at Fortuna and Fortuna wash.

Does anyone know if there is an online map of the road?

Great trip coming up!!!!!!!

Re: El Camino Diablo feeler

We will have all the info you need the first days of Dec, including fresh from the oven waypoints to plug in your GPS or oziexplorer. Please be patient....

PATIENT!! PATIENT! Who can be patient about this. I just entered over 100 waypoints into TOPO. Just kidding about getting worked up but well actually I did enter all those points. It will be interesting as to the real route that we will take opposed to what I just did.

It's interesting that the Garmin I have (76CSx) has MapSource as its mapping software. The Goldwater military reservation is just a big nothing on MapSource, no roads, nothing. Great big help there.

By the way Rock FJ, a big thanks for all the work that you're putting in to this. I know we're all curious about this film crew thing. I know, be patient.
Thanks again.

Didn't know Dodge is still making the Power Wagon. We had one back in the 70's. That thing was bullet proof. 8 MPG empty or with 1 1/2 cords of wood loaded.
