There have been a few mentions of this in other threads. I have been wanting to do this run for some time, but don't want to do it alone for it's awesome remoteness and length.

I hear it's 2 days for sure, 3+ days if you poke around. Any takers?

ME!!!! And Carrie said she has to go before she dies...and it's the FIRST trail she asked me about when she still had her paper licence plates.....

We will need.....

Everything to survive for a week...even if it's a three day run.
Lot's of gas
Someone with a handgun or machine gun
An Indian guide...I think
A permit
4 or more trucks
BellyDoc....in case no one reads the list....

LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!!!

I'm game.

Necessities: insurance, non-trivial weaponry, sleeping in shifts, lots of tools and replacement parts, at least ONE satphone, CB and (less important: GMRS/FRS), flares, winches, survival gear, at least one EMT/Doc/Nurse on the trip, etc.

But I'd love todo the drive with fellow FJers.

Count me in.

Re: El Camino Diablo feeler

ok my book for arizona says one permit covers all two for the national parks and one to wave the airforce for damage or death. The trail is 110 miles long, looks like there is another trail to make it longer if wanted.

It starts in welton arizona and ends up in ajo arizona. A small trail on the other side of welton which connects into the diablo trail.

Park service main office has the permit each one has to get one with full vechile describition and a permit for all in the vechile over 18 yrs old.

1.Gas long trip
2.Fire arms really close to the border smugglers and border crossers.
3. Food, water, good shelter
4. Spare fluids,belts, hoses.
5.First aid
6.Cbs
7. Sleeping in shifts good idea
8. Tools
9.Good spare tire
10. To those who say no to firearms sorry due not want to be rude but this is right on the border. If border patrol comes along just put them aside undercover they do not need to know we have them.
11.Your medicines
12.Wet weather gear, change of cloths common sense sorry.
13.Shovel
14.Winch if not i have one can help out.
15.Weather proof lighters
16.cameras for trip going to be great.

Hope this helps it is in the arizona trail guide book, south #3 looks really cool and since it crosses the barry goldwater airforce range we maybe be able to see jets or a-10 tank killers during the day or at night dueing training.

Hope this helps.

Re: El Camino Diablo feeler

I'm in. Oh heck yeah! (As long as it's not the weekend of Dec 8/9.) Finally and thanks Mike for starting a thread!
I have camping gear if anyone is in need (stoves, water jugs), and I have access to just about anything we would need to 'borrow' in the camping department (tents, bags, pads). Most of it smells like smoke though

I have been across the camino 7 times in the last 10 years. You will have a great experience . The history of the camino goes back well over 100 years so be sure to take your cameras. Jorge
