Re: 2WD or 4WD for AZ?

One of my co-workers got a 2wd 3rd gen 4runner about a month ago. He's selling it and looking at getting 4wd FJC now because he took it on a forest road to go camping and kept getting stuck.

This is Crown King to Lake Pleasant...2wd ain't gonna cut it.....

The good thing about the 2wd...there's plenty for sale cheap....
The BAD thing about 2wd....there's pleny for sale for cheap....

I'd spend the extra grand and go 4wd.....It will pay off in the long run....
This guy hasn't seen me wheel.

Re: 2WD or 4WD for AZ?

Even if you never use it, it is better to have 4wd...just in case. 4wd will get you unstuck a lot easier in Snow and mud than a 2wd will.
You never know, you could go up to Flagstaff, Prescott, Payson etc...for a nice weekend away, and during the night could have a heavy snow fall. What would you rather have then if you had to get out?

Plus, the resale difference alone for the 4wd is worth it.

Geeeeez that is a good looking FJ

Spend the money and get the 4x4 - you will get it back on the eventual resale and will never regret the purchase.

Re: 2WD or 4WD for AZ?

Thanks, guys. I've been thinking I'm going to wait until Toyota addresses the engine bay rips, but I'd be surprised if it took them 3 years to fix this (the length of the warranty on a new truck).

Anybody have recommendations for a dealer to buy from in PHX metro?

If you come to Tucson to buy, check out Precision Toyota (Desert Toyota reeks). Ask for Paul Anthony, he is the fleet dealer. Tell him Dan sent ya.

....and get a 4x4 auto.
