Puerto Penasco!

I am a complete foreign travel n00b, having only been out of the country to visit our friends to the North. Just heard about this Rocky Point place and that some of you folks shoot down there every now and then. I'd love a Mexican mini-trip. Let's do it!! Any thoughts?

EDIT: I know there is the thread about the huge get-together and stuff, what I'm talking about here running down there randomly with a few people, not very long.

Re: Puerto Penasco!

I go down there quite a bit (well not so much now with 2 kids), but it is a lot of fun. I might be up for a quick trip. I will also be down there most of Thanksgiving week.

Unhappy Re: Puerto Penasco!

Sharon and I did a cool trip last fall (in a dune buggy)...we had a mixed group of vehicles and were led out past the old railroad tracks, train station, across the salt flats and then up the coast for 40+ miles of deserted beach travel to the little town of El Golf de Santa Clara...what a great trip...good food and COLD cervesa would love to do the trip again....not much in the way of lodging in el Golfo...but it was cool to sit at the Cantina and sip cold ones and watch the sunset.... might plan on camping on the beach...unlimited choices right now....until they complete the coastal highway

Rocky Point itself has lots of rooms, great food and tons of stuff to do...its an easy trip from Tucson or Phoenix...with only about 45 minutes of travel inside Mexico!!
