Any recommendations for trails around PHX or Sedona?

We will be in town (from Dec 27 to Dec 30) to see my son's marching band perform at the Fiesta Bowl Parade, and will have some time for trails either around the Phoenix or Sedona area or thereabouts. We plan to spend at least one night at each location. We don't mind a bit of a drive, as we are already coming up from Southern California.

Any recommendations are appreciated, and we could even arrange to meet up if you want to go along with us.

I will most likely be planning a trail run on Saturday the 29th as we have another CA guest that is staying with us and wants to go on a run. Keep your eyes open on this section!

There are TONS of trails around by the way!

Re: Any recommendations for trails around PHX or Sedona?

There are TONS of trails in both of those areas. A good place to start is in our trail forums here:

AZFJ › Forums › Arizona FJ Discussion › Trail Listings and Reviews

We have ratings and GPS tracks for you to follow there. We just started adding to it, but it will certainly get you started.

If you're going to Sedona you don't want to miss Broken Arrow. Try to go at an "off peak" time though. Sometime during the week or first thing in the morning might be best. It's a heavily used trail. Take a look at the trails listed above and feel free to shoot any questions here or there if you have them!

Re: Any recommendations for trails around PHX or Sedona?

Thanks for the feedback. We may make the 29th if we are near Phx that day. Sounds like a great trip. We may spend more time near Prescott/Sedona, so thanks for the link to the trail reports as well. We haven't booked hotels anywhere yet, so that may play a role as to where we go depending on room availability.
