I'm a maybe for this one! I promised a friend that owns a pit bull that I'd go with him to a pit bull dog show. Don't ask me how I agreed to it, but that's the story.......
If I can get out of it, I'll go!!

You can do it! No worries about "slowing anyone down"! We are all there to have fun and get experience! Heck, we have a trail teams expert along with us! So, can I put you on the list??
Cool, thanks. I am a strong "maybe". I have a commitment that day that I am trying to get out of so I will check back in prior and let you know for sure. I appreciate it!
It sounds like you too just need to cancel your prior commitment with each other and get out on the trail!
Ok, mrfinchy - strong maybe
FJCarrie - maybe...let's turn this into a "strong maybe"....
New to the off road game. Just purchased my FJ Cruiser about two weeks ago. I live in Las Sendas, east valley right near the Tonto National Park. I have been offroading in Butcher Jones all the way up to Four Peaks. Looking for an FJ Club to join so I am not alone in my adventures. I will be out of town for this run on the 29th, but I would love to meet some of you and join you for future runs. Hope to meet up soon and have some serious fun!

Serious fun is what it is all about! My hubbie (3DTONKA) and I live in Fountain Hills - minutes away from Butcher Jones - that is a fun little FJ playground!
There will be lots more runs and we also occasionally just meet to hang out! Keep your eyes on this section of the forum for stuff that goes on!
Oh, and if you ever just want to go out and play in the Butcher Jones area, just shoot me a PM!
Good likelihood we will make it. We are coming from Orange County and will be either in Phoenix or near Prescott or Scottsdale from 12/27 departing on the 31st for home. Haven't booked a room anywhere yet, because we haven't decided on our exact schedule yet. I guess we'll either see you...or not. But any additional directions, or enough info to pinpoint the meeting place on mapquest or google maps would be appreciated.
Thanks

Jeez, Carrie... there's SO MUCH psychopathology to comment on here, I don't even know where to start!
The unspoken messages involved in owning a pit bull? The freakish nature of dog-show people? The bizarre relational psychology of being sucked into someone elses mania?
Hey, if you like tagging along with people while they're doing things you don't really care about, then you should join me when I meet up with some product reps who are going to pitch a surgically implantable gastric pacemaker to me later next week... at least they'll bring food.
If you need a doctor's note to get out of this... just text me.

I might be able to make this date and I would like to meet some of you. How difficult is this trail? My FJ is plenty capable, but I am not sure that I am. I would hate to get on a run and slow things down. Let me know how tough you think it is & happy holidays! - Bill
This trail has a creekbed section with some stones to navigate. 2 or three spots in the creek require intelligent line choices. As long as you're not the first one through, you'll sail smoothly based on watching and then either emulating what you see, or doing something better when they prove to you that their choice was bad. If you go first, you get to carry that responsibility.
The upper section is a climb along nicely degenerated mine roads that switchback up to a saddle. Along the way you pass the very cool old mine buildings. The old road is nicely degenerated and requires good traction. A rear locker is nice where you have to climb over rocks while your back wheels are still in soft dirt. ATRAC generally laughs at this sort of stuff.
At this time of year, patchy snow or ice is possible, which adds a slippery dimension for fun... but it shouldn't complicate matters much since there's no treacherous sections.
A stock FJ could make it through this trail but it would be challenging.
A lifted FJ with good tires makes this a really fun drive with a few very do-able challenges even for someone with limited experience... especially in a group.
I'd go for this run, but I'm on trauma call all day and night.
If you guys come across anyone needing surgery, just send 'em on down!
I'm a maybe! If the CB is fixed (that's all that is stopping me). I will have the GPS to track it and pics for all!

Come on and join us - with our without the CB, someone may have an extra one....right now Kurt has our extra..... If anything, we have a couple of two ways and can just throw you in the middle!

I'll put you down!
I'll bring a pair of two-ways. Where are we telling people to meet? Your house for breakfast? ha ha!
