Re: Wheeling 1/1/2008

Beeline to Bartlett through Sycamore Canyon is a trail called "log corral"... its not on the maps.

35" tires are recommended. I have 'em and I scrape.

It's mostly a moderate trail except for one 100 yard rock crawl that goes up a waterfall (that's probably going right now).

I've seen two IFS half-shaft u-joint fractures there... in the exact same spot.

I'm lucky it wasn't me. The only reason it wasn't me may be because I have a locking front differential and I didn't slide a front wheel into the axle eating groove. I don't think ATRAC will do it since the wheels are differentially weighted on wet rock. Any spin equals side slide into the groove, probably even the quarter turn of spin that ATRAC will allow. The FJ front half shaft u-joint is probably beefier than the 4 runners' joints I saw snapping... but I won't bet my FJ on it.

I'd call this trail a 4.5. Martinez canyon (at 4.5 in my book) is worse in terms of continuous rock crawl, but this one section of the Log Corral trail may be more punishing than Martinez. There is no easier way around this waterfall climb, while the hardest obstacles in Martinez canyon are optional.

Put me down as a maybe. I'll confirm tonight or tomorrow morning after I pick up something shinny.

My only limitation is my truck is stock with the exception of sliders; so the real tough obsticals are out. I'm happy to sit and watch others tackle the tough stuff. Just need a way around it.

Thats all you need man! Me and Mike Tibaal89 have been running that way! Bone stock haha.

You in for this trip BellyDoc???

If we went to Flo Jo we could do something like Martinez Cabin to Martinez Canyon and we could come out Box Canyon and we could always do Jack Handle while we are out there if you guys haven't had enough.

Table Mesa who knows the area well? What trails should we run??

C'mon on people what better way to start the new year!!

I'm taking the family to a cabin for some snowball therapy and we're supposed to leave some time mid day on the first! I'd be up for a Martinez run other than that. My FJ Cruiser is getting jealous of my secret life in the garage with the crawler project.

Next weekend, I get back on Saturday morning... maybe I can join you folks for something that weekend?

Well have fun in the snow and hope we get to meet up for a run soon.

Florence? Table Mesa? Tucson? Snow? What are you guys feeling?

Hope to get as many people out as possible, not trying to scare anyone away with the locale so let me know what you are feeling...

Cruznwyo in for anything?
Itanius wants snow maybe?
Wes up for anything...
CactusCruzer maybe
Homedad maybe

Re: Wheeling 1/1/2008

It's probably best to just choose a location and run with it, or the contemplation could go on forever.
