Doc, Dad, and Puulboy....Plans for Martinez??

Just checking in to see if you guys are planning to run the Canyon during the first week of January like we'd talked about briefly in Uphill's build thread (or the Martinez thread....can't remember which now)?

I'm off all week, but have a new "project" that needs work as well as a big list of honey do's and a date during one of the days off to go shooting out in the desert.

My buggy is sorta ready to go, but I'd like to change out tires this week to the stickies.

Let me know if this run is still a go or not (and when).

Sean

It was only mentioned....I don't think there's any plan whatsoever.....which is fine by me. I'm going to be pretty busy this week anyway. I was just offering to lend a hand getting you guys through the trail if you ran it this week.

Re: Doc, Dad, and Puulboy....Plans for Martinez??

I'm chiming in via the blackberry handheld from a cabin in the woods east of Payson. I'm back on Saturday. I was kinda sorta thinkin about wheeling on Sunday. There are a few things that could interfere but I was thinking Martinez and I was thinking about Don and Kurt.

I just discovered that the body shop F'd up my air intake, so I have to deal with that. I also probably fractured my coccyx as a result of snow saucering off of a rock.

... Yes. I broke my butt.

However, its no LESS painful to sit around the house then it is to go wheeling.

Besides, Sean, it would be useful to check out your rear links.

More rain will make the trail a better challenge, Don. I do expect to see pictures but no trail carnage.

Like it needs to be more challenging
I will have camera in hand with lots-o-memory card room
I am not sure if I can make it yet but it sure sounds appealing. Besides I need a jolt of the docs company

thanks

Re: Doc, Dad, and Puulboy....Plans for Martinez??

It's supposed to be raining starting Saturday night. I wouldn't recommend a trip out there with rain actually falling. Too high a chance of getting stranded or worse.

As for me, I'm out if it's this weekend. I spent all week on my new project....just finished it and am taking it out tomorrow. Unfortunately, I also tore apart my beadlocks to mount the new wheels and haven't even really gotten the new ones on. That's at least an 8 hour project.

Sorry guys.

Sean

I was kidding. Taking that slick rock, and the deep narrow canyon prone to flash flooding during a hard rain would be a really bad idea and you could loose the rig or worse. Sean makes it look easy and with good spotting it's do-able, but that canyon is no cake walk even in good weather. I wouldn't want to be up on that steep mine road during a hard rain even in a buggy as capable as Sean's. There are places where the road bed is not all that stable. If the ground was wet, you could loose enough of it to drop the buggy (or FJ) down hundreds of feet into the canyon.
