Going off of StHarris' comments, I'm going to start posting mods, build info, flat tires, etc... on here. So here goes the first of hopefully many.
It took two days to do, mainly because of location problems and weather, but the lift and upper control arms are in. I started with the hardest one of all -- the left front coilover. It wasn't really that much harder, but it did require battery removal and loss of all of Houston's English radio stations (there's only about two of them). I must say that it went very smoothly, and the only trouble I had were those pesky bolts on the shock towers. The factory specs include torque values, but since I don't have a magical 1.5" long torque wrench, I had to guess -- horrors! Another trouble area was forcing the lower control arms downward to allow for the longer IVD coilovers to fit. I admit that I have read warnings and horror stories about this, but I like always, I ignored those parts of the story. An axe handle wedged under my armpit worked just nicely. Oh, I forgot to mention that this was a one man job. The right front went in without problems.
Sunday morning brought the installation of the rear. No problems with the installation except the shock towers -- again. The bushing on the IVD shocks are very thick. So thick in fact that the 18 ftlbs spec shows no thread above the nut. This is pretty damn unsettling to me, so I cranked down on the nut enough to get two lines of thread showing above the top. Even with that, it is not enough for a jam nut, so I will have to keep a close eye on it until the bushing compresses enough to add that extra nut. Safe? Probably not, but I am now keeping a 3/4" wrench in the cab to tighten it a little more each day.
Now that this part is done, I need to find a job so I can eat next week. Seriously, I don't know how those leeches of society can look at themselves in the mirror each day. It has been a total of one day of unemployment and I'm about to go insane.
