All Things Radio Installations

Posted 01-02-2009 at 09:24 AM by Sterling
I am staring a project this year to install a bunch of radio stuff.

I want to do something like the following in my FJ:

iPhone integration w/stock stereo including seemless mount and control from stock buttons on steering wheel.

HD Radio integration maybe Dice?

XM Radio integration

HAM/CB integration with one, two or three antenna mounts, probably the Bandi mount plus some.

UNI/ISM band data antenna integration for work (I own a wireless ISP business) with interchangable antenna feeds, computer hookup and analyzer

I'll probably create seperate threads/blog posts on each of these.

I recently added an IC-280H two meter 440 MHz transceiver to my FJ. My criteria was no holes and no exposed wires. I mounted the transceiver under the driver's seat and the control head on the left (silver) dashboard. The Larsen 2 mtr/440 antenna is a through the glass antennam which works well enough, but not as good as my roof top mounted mag mount did.

That sounds good, you should post some pictures of it!

I'm stuck on trying to find a good hands free solution for my iPhone...
