I took off what I had (no flame to the previous skid mfg) and am in the process of installing Bud Built skids today. There is no comparison (IMO) with the other belly armor on the market. Once you have seen (and more to the point) and hefted the Bud Built skids, you'll be sold. I dented the X#%& out of the previous IFS skid. But it's literally half as thick as the Bud Built skid. If I tear this one up, you just need to roll me over a cliff in the FJ because I'm WAY over-driving the vehicle.
One warning, installing them solo with no lift, on the driveway, is not an easy chore. I'm not a small man and it's "work".

Do you know what the difference in the gas tank skid is?? Thinking about getting a set of BudBuilts, but don't want to if something better is coming out soon??

I just installed a complete set of BudBuilt including the gas tank skid. It appears to me the tank skid could be added anytime.
I was happy that I put them on..and even happier when I came down on some rocks at Longlook..I smiled and said "skids"...its great knowing that they're down there.

Nice, I'll have to add this to my long list of future MOD's
SHADOW-WARRIOR At the risk of sounding overly enthusiastic, they have the heft and design to be able to absorb a HUGE amount of damage. They are the most substantial skid plates on the market in my opinion. I am not putting other products down but I haven't seen anything that is even close. And ripping the bottom of the FJ out is something I don't want to do.
The powdercoating was very well done, by the way. RED armor plate looks wicked on the bottom of the Titanium FJ with black rails, black ARB bull bar, etc. Donohoe springs (therefore the suspension) are back ordered. I went by the factory yesterday since it's near my house and they said it will be a couple of weeks because they can't keep up with demand. Once everything is intact and updated, I'll post a photo.
But having the Bud Built skids in place is very important to me. More important than suspension upgrades at the moment since I have a desert run planned.

That's the truth! I went with the MAF's that are equally heavy and doing them solo is a challenge. After installing the 1st of the 3 piece skids, I knew their had to be a better way! So I used my hydraulic 2 ton floor jack and jack stands and that made the world of difference! I placed the skid on the floor jack pad, rolled the jack under the the FJ while I stabilized the skid with my hand. Started pumping on the jack handle to raise the skid into place and made small position adjustments as the skid got closer to the underbelly. After the skid was lined up, I started to thread the hardware and moved on to the next skid. The skid plates overlapped requiring the hardware to go thru both plates to attach to the threaded hole in the frame. In these locations I used the jack stands to help prop up the plates.
It can be done solo, buy an extra set of hand would be helpful. If you can't wait for your buddy's to come over and help, a floor jack can make it a lot easier!

LOL I never got a sticker either but no biggie, I was less happy about missing more than half the required hardware, but all in all they are definitley worth the investment.
