Straightening skids

Any ideas on straightening the transfer skid?

I came down hard on the left side just behind the factory cross member bolts.

The only idea I have right now is perhaps getting another set of shims and then wrenching it down hard to fit. Right now the exhaust was touching until I removed the skid.

I'll give Bud a call tomorrow, but just thought I'd ask around too...

Re: Straightening skids

take the skid off, place 2 block of wood on the ground under your truck, lay the skid on it, and use your stock bottle jack as a press to straighten the skid out

That's right! Or, if just a bow, you can drive over them with the tires.
This one is from one of the Trail Team's trucks and it took a V8 truck to jack up on to get them to move!

And congrats on bending them!

Re: Straightening skids

Thanks for the advice. I tried jacking up the FJ in the same way. It's amazing how the skids flex. But unfortunately that's all they did, flex. I've got a touch more clearance, perhaps 2mm.

Thanks for the advice on the phone today Bud. I'm looking forward to the Fuel tank skid and the extra shims. I'll have to update my build page with some worn skids rather than the clean painted ones.
