Do I REALLY need this part?

So I dropped my skids to sand the horrible rust off from the wonderful Chicago winter (which is about to drop another 2-4 inches of snow tonight) and repaint and the hex screw that goes here was stripped: (I am aware that the screw is supposed to go through the steel but my brother didn't know that when he was helping and it's fixed now )

So, since it is stripped on the other side, I wasn't able to put the steel piece in. Do you think that's bad? is there any way I can get the screw to work?

Hopefully this makes sense; if not I will do my best to clarify!

Thanks!

Re: Do I REALLY need this part?

Are you talking about the second plate from the front?

Re: Do I REALLY need this part?

yeah, it's the small steel spacer that fits between the second skid and mount for the small round tube (don't know what it's called). It's held in place by one of the hex screws.

Re: Do I REALLY need this part?

Hey, sorry for not replying sooner. I believe the area your speaking about is where you take one of the two bolts out of the control bar or something like that and replace it with the hex bolt (makes it flush) correct me if this isn't it. Are you saying that the bolt has been stripped or that the frame where the bolt goes in has been stripped?

Re: Do I REALLY need this part?

the metal spacer is in there simply to reduce noise caused by the metal flexing during driving.

Now the bolt from the factory is there to reinforce that brace to the frame.

The BudBuilt spacer is NOT required... it reduces noise.

The bolt... well I would say it is a good idea to drill it out and replace it.

yeah I currently have a similar issue.
