Re: Compact Chuck box and Patrol box

While convenient, it looks heavy and it is also quite large. The problem with camping is the amount of gear that two people take if you're going out for a week or so. Those who have dogs that travel with them take up even more room. And there is no room in the back of the FJ to speak of.

Man, I dig those Pelican cases! I've gotta get one of the laptop cases. Maybe some other ones for gear and what-not...
That's going to be my plan - start replacing the stuff I have with Pelican cases. Expensive up front but they'll last longer than me.

I figure a case for the kitchen, a case to hold my camp, a case for my trail tools, and a case for my recovery equpment (heavy stuff). Then keep my recovery straps, etc in a soft bag that can easily be carried.

That and an ARB frig, and I'll be set.

I think they were saying about 20lbs. Since it's a work area as well as storage, it would mean you don't need to bring a folding table too.
I kind of like the Work-Top box, which is no larger than the milk crate container I have in the back now.
Room in the back of an FJ is certainly at a premium, especially with two people.

Re: Compact Chuck box and Patrol box

What I have learned, is to use smaller cases/bags of equipment instead of larger containers with lots of stuff.

The smaller stuff is much easier to lift and deal with, it also helps you specialize and organize your gear.

I would love to have 3 or 4 pelican cases (1550NF) .
