CrusiinWa, I found this for you. Sounds like the tags may be the only difference but not sure. . . so it makes me wish I had bought the tan. I can live with it. I gots me some good ol' military Scepters !

Note: All MFC Fuel Cans are designed to accommodate either Gasoline or Diesel Fuel. However DOT Regulations require that a Red Strap be placed on Gasoline cans and Yellow Strap be placed on Diesel cans.
Page 5 of this article talks about the different seals for Scepter cans. The artical also addresses DOT regulations. In both instances, you guys hsould be fine.

Re: SCEPTER Military 20L Fuel Cans

Lots of info there RenoMan.

Other than being made of metal, the Wedco sounds decent.

No matter what can you go with, I think the Super Siphon sounds like a good investment. This way you don't have to hold the can the entire time it is emptying and the siphon claims only a couple of minutes to empty a can.

Re: SCEPTER Military 20L Fuel Cans

Guess we all owe Al Gore big time

Without him, we'd all be wondering where we're gonna get good cans.

I've always liked a good set o' cans, especially plastic ones

Re: SCEPTER Military 20L Fuel Cans

Which is the correct spout to get with Scepter can for the FJ? Is it the small one or will the 1 1/8 inch one work?

3/4 or 19mm is for gas. The larger is considered the diesel spout.

See post #45 on page 5 of this thread.......apparently both work...one faster than the other.

Re: SCEPTER Military 20L Fuel Cans

In my quest to get a 12 gallon tank setup mounted on the roof I did some tests with a Simple Siphon and a 1/2" ID dia hose and I can transfer about 2-1/2 gallons per minute. This would be just under 5 min to transfer the whole 12 gallons to the tank...not too bad I don't think.

Not as convenient as being able to do it on the road like a MAF tank, but im saving myself $1600, and that still buys a lot of gas
