Re: REI Equipment

REI is a great store for us outdoor types. Not the cheapest prices around, but I am willing to a pay a little more for good service and the good chance that they will have what you need on the first trip.

I buy most of my camping/backpackingh equipment from them. Bought a REI tent, used it extensively for 2+ years and the bottom leaked during a rainstorm. Took it back and they apologized and gave me a brand new one. Even better, my Suunto watch broke and I took it back to REI without a reciept, they couldn't find it in their computer, and I suddenly realized I bought it somewhere else and told them so. Their response? "Thats okay, we'll take care of it, go get a new one."
WOW, that is better than Bean!

HogChain, you live around here? how come i haven't seen you at anything or posting up in the Lousisana thread???

If you have a 4x4 and are free this Sunday, there will be a trail ride. I think it is about an hour north of hammond.
Layonnn, Thanks for the invitation! I am tied up Sunday with a family gathering. Hope to get to meet ya'll at one of your gatherings soon, if you don't mind an old MS boy attending. I live about 24 miles north of the LA/MS state line up I-55.

Been a card carrying REI member since the 70s.
Same here. Their stuff is a good value, excellent quality for the money. Plus, they carry the big name brands if you really want to go first class.

Re: REI Equipment

+1 vote for REI. I've used their sleeping bags (excellent build quality, great value) and I have a Novera Big Buzz urban bike (novera = rei brand). I love that store, and I love the peace of mind that I get with their lifetime return policy.

Re: REI Equipment

Hi Kim, you can't go wrong with REI, we have been buying things from them for years! Scott has a backpacking tent from them and loves it! We bought a huge(Kelty) tent from Cabelas or Sportsman's Guide several years ago. Another place you may want to look is Sierra Trading Post, they give some killer deals and have good customer service. shop around some places price match. although no-one else carries REI! The REI tent we have Scott believes is made by Sierra Design, i think? Cause they make the same exact style just different colors! He'll chime in if i am wrong about anything here! lol.

Good Luck in your shopping!

Re: REI Equipment

Don't have REI - North of the Border (although the equivalent would be MEC). Make a point of stopping in @ REI in SLC whenever I am down there.
Quality merchandise and excellent customer service. Definitely recommend.

Re: REI Equipment

I love my REI gear I've had over the years.

Can't say much more that what has been said here already, other then I still use my original co-op card I got in 1984. Cashiers hate me since it's not scanable
