Thats not right!!!!

Another option is you could get the Tailgator table they buy a hitch extender (No comment MuddyGrrl) to push the table away from the spare.

What about something like this?

...

My setup will hold 20lbs easily. No rattles and it's not very heavy.
I like this quite a bit. It's hard to tell from your pictures - how high above the bottom of the window would it extend when folded if it were mounted on the higher indentation area? I have a Tuffy drawer in back, but have been looking for a solution exactly like this for cooking/camping use. If it's not too tall when folded, I might order the shorter (16") version to hold my favorite little MSR stove to cook on...

Re: Hitchmount Food Prep Table

Here's a table like the one your talking about, but it's awfully expensive. Maybe if you could find someone with an old reciever bike rack that they would sell you cheap or give you and then fab your own table on to it that could work. I like the idea of a plastic table like this one though so it wouldn't rust:

Boone Outdoor Hardware Tailgate Table (2" Receiver) - BOO_707

Here's one that's only $26, but it's for a smaller reciever and it says FORD on it, bleh. Come on Toyota, where's ours?:

FordPartsPeople.com - Genuine Ford Parts and Ford Accessories

TableGater, the Adjustable Height Trailer Hitch Tailgating Table

Wouldn't it be WAY less expensive to buy an old broken picnic table and mount it to, say, a bike rack? I don't know, $119 for a simple $40 table seems awfully high.

What a good idea!

Actually, the best thing about the CR-V that I used to own is that it came with a picnic table. It lay flush under the rear cargo area.
Right over the built-in tub that made a great cooler!

If you put it up on the upper groove, it'll probably extend to just above the plastic arch. Take a look at this picture. It should give you a bitter idea.

(picture snipped)
That's exactly the pic I was hoping for, thanks! I'm going to go sit in the FJ later and try to decide if that's too much blockage for me. I may go with the narrower shelf, which would mean if it were centered, it might only block that area that's already blocked by the rear tire/arch anyway...and I've got Chris @ Lucrum's swingout coming, which is going to add some more blockage, so this might not be a big deal anyway.

Any hints on what you used for attachment?

(sorry for the thread hijack! back to your regularly scheduled programming...)
