Anyone ever heard of this portable fridge? Dometic Portable Refrigerator
I see so many people paying upto 1k$ for a fridge. I found one
that I can buy for under 400$ that will run on 12VDC/120VAC/ and LP
I am really thinking of buying one. Anyone ever heard of this brand? Experiences?

Dometic is either the manufacturer or importer of Waeco freezer/fridges. I had to call about a warranty issue on the first one I received and I was put in touch with a Dometic importer in FL. My only complaint about the Waeco is the "soft touch" keypad, which sometimes sticks. Other than that, mine runs 24/7 in my truck and has since last year - no power issues - stock battery.
That thing sounds pretty cool - runs on propane too

Re: Anyone ever heard of this portable fridge? Dometic Portable Refrigerator
Al, I have one of those, but only an older one I bought in the 90s.
I used it in my tent trailer hooked up to the propane line.
When on the road to the campsite, I ran it on 12v with the rig running.
When packed the night before, I ran a 110v line to my truck to power it in the canopy.
This design is like leaving your headlmaps on, so it will drain the battery ASAP.
But for camping a whole week or so, it runs great on propane.
Mine has the piezo starter too, and can also run on the small portable tanks.
Not the Coleman type, but the skinnier type used for propane torches like you thaw out frozen pips with.

I dont know of this model, but they have been making refridgerators in motorhomes and trailers as long as I can remember. So they do know a little something about the 12volt and propane. Just my 2 cents.

I like the idea of being able to pre-cool with 100V and then use 12V on the road

Why would this be like leaving your lights on. The point is to run on 12V when the engine is running and propane for over night/engine off. No risk of battery drain.

What I mean is no one should try using this style like we do with our ARBs.
My ARB can go for close to five days without starting my rig, as it only draws 1.7 amps when it cycles.
But the Dometic one draws a lot more current, like leaving your lights on.
Go to bed with it on, your battery will be dead in the morning.
But since you plan on using propane like I did with it in my trailer, and later for car/tent camping when I sold my trailer, no worries, it will work fine.
