The Maggiolina is a great RTT, but is lacking in storage space when you have two people in it. Larger items like shoes, clothes, etc. has no place to go, other than the very limited space at the head or by the feet. Either way, it tends to get in the way. A quick and easy fix for storing light items could look like this.
One 48” shelf from Home Depot and two shelf supporters. I used the ClosetMaid # 4714 shelf, as it has a “channel” in the back of it. Cut out 10-12 ribs from this channel in the back of the shelf so back of shelf will rest on the raised crossbars at the desired height. Bend the end of the shelf support so it will fit over, and hang on the metal band riveted in place in the Maggiolina top shell. Bend the hooks so they will fit tight around one of the ribs on the shelf. To set up, insert channel in shelf between cross bars to rest on crossbars in back, hook shelf supports to shelf and hook looped ends of the shelf supports over metal band. Voila! 30 seconds to set up and take down.
Disclaimer: Any physical activities that could result in legs kicking in the air will knock the shelf down……
When not in use, shelf lays on mattress, with the little back ledge down, just past the mattress. Shelf supports stores in space next to cross bars. Lightweight, easy to set up and store, and less than $10.
