Re: Genuine Toyota Locking Gas Cap???? ........... Say it Ain't So!

A stock replacement 2004 Tacoma locking cap from Cdn Tire works perfectly. No need to get everything mailorder or from Ebay.

Haven't tried to reattach the tether. I leave the key in the cap lock while refueling. Can't go anywhere without the FJ keys so I don't forget the cap.

Re: Genuine Toyota Locking Gas Cap???? ........... Say it Ain't So!

I just attached a thick fly fishing line to the tether and then looped it around the replacement Stant gas cap and tied a series of fisherman's knots to lock it into place. A tiny dab of silicon keeps the line from slipping for now. It took 5 minutes to fiddle with.

Re: Genuine Toyota Locking Gas Cap???? ........... Say it Ain't So!

Just picked up the Toyota Gas cap - doesn't have a tether so probably not much different than the after market versions others are buying. Didn't want to bother with shipping, duty and brokerage fees over a $10 difference in price.
