Re: Anyone switched to Synthetic Oil yet

Changed at my second oil change (10k miles). Castrol Syntec 5W-30 and Fram Extended Guard filter (XG3600) for longer change intervals. No reason I waited until the second oil change, just wasn't thinking about it on the first one.

Re: Anyone switched to Synthetic Oil yet

I switched to Toyota-branded synthetic @ around 1,500 miles.

Seemed to increase fuel mileage 2-3 MPG, maybe not related to the synthetic but to the normal break-in mileage increase???

Nice, I think I'll switch to Syn after 1500kms then.

Re: Anyone switched to Synthetic Oil yet

switched at 3k miles and it seemed to smooth the engine when at idle a little. Have almost 8k on it now. I used Castrol syntec 5w30 and toyota filter.

Re: Anyone switched to Synthetic Oil yet

Switched to Amsoil 0w-30 at about 4000, and also the F/R diffs and Xfer case to Amsoil. Havn't touched the auto tranny yet.
