Angry CDNs pay 17% more for new cars!

Have a read. Because of the strong CDN dollar we are paying thousands more for new vehicles in Canada compared to in the US.
TorontoSun.com - Money - Cars cheaper in U.S.

Here's the CDN site with all the info on importing a car into Canada btw - in case anyone needs it.
Registrar of Imported Vehicles RIV: How to import a U.S made vehicle into Canada

Bottom line is, with a couple hours of paper work and fees of about $200 you could potentially save $8000 on a $40,000 purchase. Then you turn around and spend that on, lift, tires, rims, lights, bumper etc etc etc and have one kick ass FJ.

I accept rewards & thank yous via Paypal, cheque or FJ accessories.

Re: CDNs pay 17% more for new cars!

I'm not surprised at all. But if you look at pretty much everywhere else in the world (Asia, Europe, Australia) cars cost WAY more than they do here. I've heard comparable cars in Asia cost 3X more than they do in the States. Living in Canada isn't actually all that expensive. I guess it's all relative though.

Re: CDNs pay 17% more for new cars!

check out drivingtv.canada.com and watch the "Buying Cars from the U.S. #1" segment.

Zack breaks it down, and it seems to really depend on the car.

I think part 2 will be on tomorrow.

Re: CDNs pay 17% more for new cars!

The only bonus I've noticed so far for paying an extra 17% is that we are not included in the FJ promotion (1/18 scale model). Which I really really wanted!

Oh, don't get me started on being shafted on the model promo. I'm still PO'd about that.
