Lifted FJ's in Calgary!

I've seen a few lifted FJ's in calgary but unfortunately have not had the chance to speak with the owners about them. There is a great looking black cherry in the SW (Coachhill area) that I see all the time. I really want to lift the wifes FJ but would like to be able to see what people are doing! Anyone out there in cowtown with a lift want to chime in? I'm thinking a Toytec 3" lift because its relatively inexpensive and seems to be good quality.

Cheers
Derek

Re: Lifted FJ's in Calgary!

I'm in Lethbridge and have a RevTek lifted FJ and wish i would have waited. For the few extra bucks I would suggest Old Man Emu. Do a search for the group buy there's a great buy to be had here. National 4wd Centers has a outlet in Calgary you could pick it up from, this will be what i'll be doing.

If it involves spacers it's harder on your FJ than you know. If you like your ride spend the extra money up front and get full on shocks and coils all around. Spacer's will not cut it in the long term.

I believe do it RIGHT or DON'T do it.

However, this is just my opinion. So some research on spacer lifts versus shock and coil lifts in the suspension tech forum and form your own opinions.

Re: Lifted FJ's in Calgary!

Actually the toytec 3" lift includes new springs but uses the existing (stock) shocks! I wouldn't do a body lift with spacers! According to Toytecs website, the 3" lift I would be interested in is $359 USD plus shipping. Pretty reasonable if you ask me! Obviously install would be extra but I work in th ebusiness so I'm sure that wouldn't run me too much!
Thanks for the reply!!
keep them coming please!

That one still has "Top Plate Spacers." Which means the coils aren't big enough to give you a full three inches so the spacers do the rest.

Seriously look at the OME Group buy thread. Espcially since you are in Calgary. I know Toytec knows their stuff, and they are great from what I heard, but OME is LandCruisers. That is your best bet.

Hey Ginch (Derek) My opinion is that the RevTek is just for asthetics, I jumped the gun and got the most readily available lift at the time without researching thoroughly. Right after i had it done i regreted my decision simply because the ride seemed spotty (for lack of a better word). But i convinced myself that it would break in (WRONG). Anyway look into this group buy it is a great deal, you wont regret it.
