I've been told by toyota dealers here in canada that canadian toyota's are nationwide pricing and that what you see is what you pay type deal. Is this actually correct? can you not "haggle" over prices and such in can?

i think you should try another dealer, sounds like bs.the only car company that still does this type of pricing is scion,in the states.saturn use to do it also, but i don't think so anymore.i'm sure our canadian members could chime in better on this question.

Never heard that when I was looking - it's up to each dealer what they want to charge and different dealers will swing different deals, have different admin fees etc. The financing if you go through Toyota Canada is pretty much non-negotiable (grab your ankles!) but I emailed all the dealers and negotiated my price before walking into any dealer. Some wouldn't budge and the one I did go through budged only slightly. Trade-in value and admin fees are often the best place to try and negotiate. I haven't seen any FJs on the lots I drive by for a couple of months so if there aren't many to go around the dealing will be more difficult.
I've heard that Alberta uses a fixed price system, "Toyota Access" or something like that, & won't negotiate. Don't know if this is true, just something I heard. In Ontario they definitely negotiate, although I'm not sure how much they are moving on the FJs these days, its a year since I bought mine.
Toyota Canada actually lost a law suit based on Toyota Access pricing. Their is even a disclaimer on their site mentioning that each dealer is free to set their own pricing. If a dealer claims otherwise, I would not even consider using them because who knows what else they are willing to lie about.
This is the disclaimer at the bottom of Toyota Access's price page:
A Toyota dealer is free to set its own selling price for Toyota products and services.

I just purchased last month. I started emailing in November 06, every reply was mrsp...Eventually one dealer offered me lower, considerably lower. I then called my local dealer and gave them an offer $500.00 off my lowest and they accepted. According to the invoice pricing I payed $700.00 above, I payed $39,200 for a "B" out the door, no trade.
Now that I've posted this I expect someone probably got a much better deal!!!
I purchased my FJ in Sept of 06, and they would not deal at that time as they couldn't keep them on the lot, so no worries if I walked away, it would have sold pretty quick anyways, but even with no deal, I still paid under $ 39,000 for a B package, AT model.

Access Toyota pricing is the past.
but for FJ, good luck on dealing pricing on that, ...supply and demands...
I know for a fact (a friend bought one) you can buy a Highlander and knock about $1200 off sticker price.
OK, so I heard some people in Alberta on another board whining that dealers there didn't negotiate.... Seemed surprising to me, I've NEVER had a dealer who wouldn't negotiate, and that includes buying an FJ the last week in March of 2006 (although at that point, of the 3 dealers I spoke to only 1 was willing to deal).
