Accident pics.

well, in a previous thread i told you guys that i would get some pics of the dmg to my truck up when i got a camera to take them, and i just so happened to buy a camera within the past week so here they go!

As you can see, it kinda looks like i slid into a tree.

can also see rust starting to form (well who am i kidding, its already there :P). its going into the shop in a couple weeks and that entire 1/4 is getting cut out and replaced so i'm not too worried about stopping the rust.

better pic of the overall side of the truck. the rear clam door is getting replaced too.

for those who didn't hear the story, watermain broke on yellowhead trail in edmonton before any real snow hit creating black ice due to a freeze overnight. i still had my offroad tires on instead of swapping over to winter ones and i hit the black ice and went into a skid. managed to get my truck enough out of the way to not slam my fabfours steel bumper into the back of a 4 runner but i still got it with the rear 1/4. blah i say.

Re: Accident pics.

Not to capitalize on your misfortune... Ok, scratch that. In order to capitalize from your misfortune, would you be willing/able to keep your old door? If so, would you be willing to donate it and allow some skilled member of this forum pioneer the first pop-out window on the rear clam/suicide door mod? Everybody seems to chicken - including myself! - to do this on their own FJ. Well?

Oh yeah, sorry about the damage... Bummer.....

Re: Accident pics.

lol. actually that's something i wouldn't mind looking into. wouldn't mind keeping it if a forum member wants to take a crack at doing a pop out style solution. but, have to remember, this woul dbe getting shipped from canada and i'd say that door weighs a nice bit so i got a feeling shipping would be a nice chunk.

That's awesome. Please do keep it. Shipping it would be expensive. We'll have to check into that. But then again, if it is too cost-prohibitive, there may be someone closer by than myself or anyone else in the U.S. - plenty of Canadian members on the forum.

FYI, here's an active thread on this topic:

Pop out rear door windows

If shipping is expensive then maybe those that are interested in this mod (evryone on this forum? ) could make a small donation to cover the cost? I'm sure the moderators could set something up? After all, it would be a benefit to a whole lot of FJ owners. My .02!

Mike

I would donate to the cause if I couldn't afford to have it shipped to me... (checking into costs right now...).

Re: Accident pics.

yeah, i thought about some rice burner type stickers over it to cover it up, but wouldn't you know it, the fj slapped me when i tried to put a vtec sticker on it. had to buy it an allpro rear bumper to get it to like me again.
