Titanium: You made my day.

So I was having the crappiest day today, when all of the sudden, coming off Highway 91 onto River Road, I see a Titanium FJ going the other way. This thing is a beauty.

Lifted, nice tires, blacked out grille, shiny hi-lift mounts on the roof rack.

I hear a honk honk and the unthinkable happens: the driver waves!

That's right folks, another FJ driver in the "Metro" Vancouver area waved at me. Of course I waved back! But was too slow to return the honk...

Just wanted to say Thanks, Kevin. You really cheered me up.

You also restored my faith in the FJ owners wave. Even though I saw three more FJ's in the two hours after you waved, and not one of them waved back to me, I now know THERE IS STILL HOPE!

Re: Titanium: You made my day.

I love it when that happens!
It is so rare out here especially the closer you get to Vancouver where the "pimped" out Escalades and Navigators are the "SUV's" of choice. Last time I was on the trail I am pretty sure I didn't see any 24" chromed out Spinning blades. Then again, the guys driving those cars aren't usually the crew I roll with.
I think we should resolve to wave at every damn FJ we see from now on regardless of who is driving them! Maybe get a sticker on the back "Don't Forget to Wave". Or maybe I should just go back to my cave and bang rocks together . . .
Joel i am sending you a virtual wave right now buddy!!!

Re: Titanium: You made my day.

We've got quite a few up here, but the wave response is probably only about 30-40%- I guess not too bad compared to Vancouverdom.

Owning an FJ is like owning a Harley- you own something that is distinct, specialized, has a proven track record (remember the FJ40?), and instills a sense of pride (or it should). As a result, I wave every time I see an FJ. It's pretty much automatic.

I get more waves from trail rigs like Jeeps and Samurai's than I do from FJ'ers.

The old LC's always wave as well... go figure!

Re: Titanium: You made my day.

I always wave or flash my lights at other FJers. I'd agree that the response is about 30-40%.

Re: Titanium: You made my day.

The wave is not dead!

Heading through New West this morning up 8th ave. a fellow FJer in a Titanium threw the wave at me. I was shocked, a little dismayed and really tired so I tried to get the return wave up in enough time for him to see it. I hope he caught it. Dunno who he was but thanks for restoring my faith in FJ Wave in Vancity! Woot!

Re: Titanium: You made my day.

I see about 12 stock FJs a day here in Los Angeles.. I used to wave, but started feeling a little silly after I never received a single one back. Even on the rare occassion I see a lifted FJ, they are more staring down than waving hello. Oh well.. I'll keep my Texas Plates on and keep on wavin! Yeehaaaa.

Re: Titanium: You made my day.

waved at another FJ when eating other day....guy smiled and waved back...then saw it had GOVT plates so it was not his personal vehicle...but pretty cool to be driving a 08 Brick JF with black steelies and it be your work truck and you dont have to pay the fuel bill.
