No need to be canadian or american to test drive FJ. Everyone is welcome to Toronto on Feb 17-26 sa long as you're not carrying bombs or other ****.
Now seriously, here is how the test drive works. Toyota usually have 5-6 trucks (4Runners, Tacomas, Tundras and this year's FJ), all with automatic trannies. You go to Toyota and register for a drive (you need a valid Canadian or US driving license). Based on the number of people and which truck you want to drive, they tell you approximate time when to come back (last year it was about 1-1.5 hours for me to drive 4Runner). Then you do whatever you want, go to other exhibits and come back when they told you - no lines, no waitings (sort of).
The test track is not big - a couple of ups and downs, some sand, some wooden logs and that's it - the whole thing takes about 10-15 minutes (hey, better than nothing). One of the toyota guys usually sits behind you, so you would drive slow and wouldn't do anything stupid.
You are not limited to just one lap or one truck, but each time you go through the whole registering routine again. Hopefully there wouldn't be too many people wanting to drive FJ this year (excluding fellow forum members
