I paid 6k for a 79 FJ40 a few years back so 5500.00 sounds decent BUT be sure all the lights works including the ones on the rear side that look like reflectors (mine were full of mud and didn't work), check for the usual rust - front floor boards, rear doors, rear corners, front fenders and side steps. One last thing, if you plan on towing it don't forget the roof is fiberglass so you can't use the magnet turn/brake lights while towing.
Don't forget to get plenty of pics and to post them EVEN if he doesn't buy it.
I have been tossing the idea around about selling mine but still not sure.........
