I have been wanting to do this for the last three years. Hopefully I will be able to fit it into my schedule at least once this winter.

I know what you mean....I recall going past Georgetown many years, wishing I could get in on that, cause it looked like so much fun (and because I always loved getting out on the ice back in MN).
Hopefully you can make it out sometime. If you do, let us know so we can try to get together.

Hopefully, I should be able to make the full season of the Bare Rubber race this year. That is the plan anyway

Nice! Wish I could, but it's just not practical. Vacation, NFL, ice racing....so many options. It'll be cool to see you out there again, Carlos.

...having studs in the snows put me into needing a helmet if I recall correctly? Or where do they draw the helmet/no helmet line?

The
rules and the
questions pages appear to leave it a bit vague. In one context, it sounds like you're not required to have a helmet, and depending on what they mean by 'soft rubber compound', in another place it sounds like you'd be forced into the helmet category, regardless of whether you put studs in them or not if they are officially classified as 'winter tires'. I suggest that you send them a message to make sure before driving out there; let them know the brand and model of your tires, etc, and find out where it places you in the 'classes'.

Oh ya....there's that.
Personally, I plan on being resurrected on the morning after by His Noodliness, the Flying Spaghetti Monster. If you want to live, latch onto one of His meatballs and hold on....it's gonna be a wild and crazy ride.

Cool, man. I like the sound track.

Never heard of Tinie Tempah before (I don't get out much).

...How many people show up for something like this?

Well, they normally have a limit of 200 race participants/drivers per weekend/event, but there can be many times that out there on any given race day with all of the friends, family members and other spectators.

...After reading the rules am I thinking right that I can't run any normal snow tires in the street class? I think it will be very slippery on Goodyear Duratracks.

As discussed above, I know exactly what you mean. They say both 1. that street legal tires place you in the street stock, bare rubber category, and 2. that soft rubber compounds (which is what most common street-legal snow tires are made of) place you in the pro street category.
Hopefully we can get some clarity so that everyone knows what the deal is.
If one of you guys checks in with them about it first, please let the rest of us know.
