denver area cycling shops / work at one?

anyone here work at a bicycle shop in the Denver area? I'm helping some friends peddle their product, CowboyBath, and we're basically looking for a peghook to hang some product on and sell on a consignment basis so we can say "we sell it here" on our website... so we can attract some investors.

Re: denver area cycling shops / work at one?

I know a few shop owners. Let me make a few calls. Feel free to PM me more info. BTW , I broke my leg a couple of days ago, so my schedule is jacked up.

Re: denver area cycling shops / work at one?

So, one of two partners in one of the better-known Boulder shops loves the idea. He's going to speak with his partner tomorrow. If you get a green light, I'll connect you guys.
I think it's a good idea!

That seems like it would have some application to camping/hiking as well, any luck getting traction at those kinds of places? Seems like REI would be the holy grail for that kind of thing.

Thanks loup!

yeah, its a pretty solid idea I think. These guys who have developed this are good friends of mine I've known and worked with for years. So far, we have distribution in TX, KS (I think), VA and CO at Mountain Man Outfitters in Manitou Springs and Adrenalin Cycles in Highlands Ranch. They want to get in Boulder so anyone you can set me up with would be awesome.

Yeah, we're targeting campers, hikers, bikers, OTR truckers, Motorcycle riders and others. I'm trying to get expeditionportal.com to do a review on the product but I haven't hear back from them. Right now, we're in a limited production/prototype phase. We did a limited run which means they (the founders) shelled out more per unit than we can actually sell it for. Right now, we're just trying to get them placed in store so on the website, we can say "Cowboy Bath is available here" to help spread awareness.

I'd love to get it placed at REI and other chains like Sports Authority. I think it'd be a hot seller, but we don't have the product to back it up, yet.

Re: denver area cycling shops / work at one?

Shack, you are wise to take baby steps first. I have 30+ years in the sporting goods industry. When you go to REI, you have to be in a position to perform, although they are good people and are often cool with starting with a few doors, and building. But you have to be in a position to perform. A route that might work is a mail order/web retailer who is willing to work/grow with you..but you still have to be in a position to scale quickly, if things go well.

yeah, right now we're just doing mom and pop places. I'm sure we'll go bigger, but yeah, baby steps first.

Have you thought about contacting the bike shops in Moab?
