Ran down to Silverton this weekend to meet with some of the town people about All-4-Fun in July.
The San Juans got hammered with snow this weekend and it was still snowing when we left. Here is 550 between Ouray and Silverton on the way yesterday:
Here's the entrance to Black Bear from today:
We ended up behind a snow plow coming back down 550 today…I was very thankful for that!
Conditions got better as we descended toward Ouray:
Down in town, the streets were just wet:
One last shot
Talked with the guy last night who plows some of the trails on the San Juan County side and he said he'd cleared Ophir and Engineer already (they're obviously going to need another pass now), so it sounds like things will be opening around their usual times. On the way in, I could see a decent amount of snow in places at the entrance to Mineral Creek…Camp Bird into Yankee Boy looked clear as far as I could see.
Anyhow, thought you guys would enjoy some shots of the area in winter conditions.
