There's a car wash next to Platte River Grille on Santa Fe/85 that did a pretty good job on my fenders when I ran w/o my bushwhackers. I got quoted around $220 for them to do the entire truck, which seemed like a pretty good deal to me
There's an independent detailer I'm working with from the Facebook S2000 group about polishing out all the pinstripes on my FJ, he comes to you and the price is pretty good. Plus, since he mostly does detail work on sportscars I figure the FJ will be easy by comparison.
Problem is that he's based out of Colorado Springs and only does Denver appointments when he's up here visiting family. I'm working on a date to get him at my place doing the S2000 and the FJ, if you want I can see if he'll do your FJ that day too. Don't have a date yet, will probably be some Saturday/Sunday in the next week or two.
I tried to talk him into a group-buy type scenario, but he's doing a full detail on my S2000 and FJ so that only leaves time for 1-2 more vehicles. The price is super reasonable though.
Related to pin-striping, but before they occur-- does anyone have any experience or knowledge of 4x4 magnets?
I've seen this floating around on the internet, but the only company I could find is overseas.
My FJ was pin-stripe central (and I didn't really care) but my LC... not so sure I can stomach pinstripes, at least not until it's paid off in 1 million years. With form cut magnets, put on while the vehicle is pristine and clean, seems we could really cut down on trail pinstriping.
Magnet material is cheap by the roll, you could easily decorate it with any solid colored or printed vinyl... I used to make lots of car magnets. the downside is the magnet picks up small particles around the edges of the magnet. Over time the slightest movement of the magnet is like sand paper on the paint. My opinion, if you are putting magnets on to protect the paint, that's like one step forward and two steps back.
At that point it's essentially the same as a normal vinyl install (thicker because of the magnets) but faster/easier to remove and re-install?
I saw a Volkswagen Touareg up by Crystal River Mill a few years ago, guy came down the trail all shiny and I realized that he had used saran wrap to protect his paint.
For what it's worth, the FJ has pretty thin clear coat, and I think no clear on the roof. You can buff the marks out, but you probably won't have much clear coat left afterwards.
