I take my Technician exam tomorrow at 1:00pm! Wish me luck...
I'm fairly confident I'll pass, as I've been taking the online practice exams over the past week, and only missing one or two. The last test I took moments ago I scored 100%!
Best of luck Dennis, but trust me you'll pass!
A local (to me) club, the Tri-County Amateur Radio Club is offering a General exam prep class in October that I'm signing up for.

Good luck! If you don't pass you can always ask to take another test - they usually have 3 different tests on hand for such times!

I've got the General prep study book sitting at home. After getting the Tech I'll start studying for the General (which I'm sure will be much more rigorous)...
I'll let y'all know how I did tomorrow afternoon!

Well, passed the test. The questions couldn't have been easier, as they were the easiest ones in the pool. I did miss one, though, and I'm sure that the study guide showed the wrong answer (as I answered it identically from the guide, but it was still marked wrong). No matter, I still passed. I should have my call sign by the end of next week!
Also, since there was no extra charge for taking the General, I took that one, just for giggles and grins. Didn't pass that one (missed over half the questions). But, at least I know what to expect, generally (General, generally... hyuk, hyuk ). I'll study for the General and take it after the first of the year - no rush.

i am going to go grab the general study guide on monday, i want to start doing some HF stuff, i think i am going to get a MiniBuddi Pole soon Mini-Buddipole and the Kenwood D710 for my mobile rig, I am torn though because I want a base station for my home as well and i dont have enough $ to get both a new rig for the home and the D710... what to do, what to do...
Yeah, I'm afraid if I get the General license I'm gonna go whole-hog (as I always do with new hobbies) and end up with a base station, tower, yagi, etc., etc...
I'll drive myself to the poorhouse with new gear. So, think I'll try to buck my trend and stick with the Technician license for a while...

Re: Get your HAM License!!
Congratulations Dennis, let us know what your new call sign is. I can pick up repeaters from Dallas, McKinney, and etc. way out here just in my truck so it's likely that we could communicate that way.
It is an addictive hobby; I'm already in the process of putting up a 2m J-pole antenna at home even though I really got my Technician license to be mobile in the truck.

Congrats!!! I take my test next month after I get back from Denver. The testing is in Durango. I may have to treat myself to lunch at Steamworks, mmmm, fish tacos! No beer as I am on call that week. I've got someone to take the pager for a bit on Saturday morning.
