Ouray Report

I did the Cinnamon leg of the Alpine Loop yesterday as well as part of American Basin...

I was hoping there would be a lot more snow up there. It is a very dry year.

Usually this time of year you can stand in the center of town in Ouray and see several waterfalls flowing like crazy but not this year. Most of the falls are completely dry. The rivers are running OK but not with the usual ferocity for this time of year. The locals were complaining of lots of rain recently but it is kind of hard to tell.

The beginning of Cinnamon out of Animas Forks was a lot of fun. The shale field is in kind of rough shape and the extreme ledges makes it interesting. The sharp switchbacks on the East side of the pass are muddy, rutted and off-camber but no huge deal.

Will try to post pics later...

Re: Ouray Report

Ya, part of the problem is that, even though we got a lot of snow in the spring, the ground didn't have much on it from the deep winter, and when it came, there was already so much heat sunk in the ground that it all melted pretty quickly.

Thanks for the report.

I'm sure it'll still be incredible.

Hey Joe. You must be talking about the twin monster CB antennae...

I have them off except for when in a convoy. I must say, they do work pretty well. I think I was picking up aliens when I was doing my testing...

Montana Tailgunner: Hope you had a great time. The pictures you posted look like a completely different day...

Bonuz: Go to Buen Tiempo... some of the best Mex to be had anywhere... love that place... the southwestern caesar salad is just great... so is the steak & chile relleno combo...
