I'm looking at getting an Black FJC 4x4 5AT with convenience, upgrade pack 2, side curtain airbags, passenger armrest and the all weather floormats. The only dealer that has been willing to negotiate on the price has offered a 'best' price of $28,526 out the door. Good deal or keep on shopping?
I would say it is an OK deal, but I am not sure about pricing in your area.
Make sure that is was manufactured after November so you don't need to hack the all trac.
I would hope it was manufactured after Nov. since it isn't due for delivery until March 1st.
Original price offered was $31K and change, roughly $2K over what Toyota's site estimated the MSRP as. Guess its time to talk trade-in and/or get serious about selling the G35c.
If you get anything off the sticker, your getting a deal.
As green said ^^
Also, look for FJ's that have been on the lot for close to 30 days (if you can find one that's been there that long..) You will have better negotiating power since they must pay interest on the loans after 30 days for new vehicles.
The only ones I've noticed staying on lots have been the blue and yellow colors, neither of which appeal to me.
Silvers go fast I've noticed. My first choice was yellow, and I found one sitting on a lot for 24 days. Got $1000 off MSRP with no haggling involved whatsoever. I spoke to the GM on the phone and said "guy down the street is giving me $605 under MSRP, what are you willing to do for me on that yellow one you got?" An hour later I was signing the paperwork.
Offer good only till 2/28
Prepayment of $1,000 to 'secure' the FJ
Ownership paperwork signed by 2/28
Financing and trade-in arranged by 2/28
But the FJ won't be in till 3/1 at the earliest. The price is acceptable, but there is no way I'm going to sign any paperwork without seeing/driving the FJ to make sure there was no in-transit damage.

The pre-payment is probably down money. Tell them you'll give them $500 down and no more. (your credit score might determine this) You should not be required to sign any paperwork when you order. If they want you to sign anything resembling a promise-to-pay note, tell them to go to hell.
