northern california dealer?

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie to this site. I just went to test drive a 4x2 FJ and absolutely loved it.
This is going to be the new born transport. I'm still trying to convince the wife.
Anyways, just trying to get an idea of what people in Northern california are paying for their FJ. Are the dealer still marking up? Also, specifically, I'm looking for the TRD SE automatic. Anyone know of a local dealer that have it in stock?
thanks!!

Re: northern california dealer?

Hayward Toyota called me last week and said they had one. Call around and I'm sure there are plenty to be had. The first thing they will tell you is how rare the model is. Tell them politely: "So what? I'll wait for the 08's". Find as many dealerships as possible that have them in stock or coming to port and pit them against one another for price and options. There are many threads here in regards to pricing, avaliability and location of the TRD.

Good luck...

Re: northern california dealer?

I live in Auburn, CA. Magnussen's Toyota (aka: Auburn Toyota) has 10 FJs as of today. I just picked mine up an hour or so ago. It's a good company to deal with in my experience. I've purchased seven or so vehicles in the past few years from them.

Re: northern california dealer?

thanks for the info. I'm going to do some cold calling

As far as pricing, are the general consensus reflective of Northern California pricing? I know sometimes buying a car in Northern California tends to a little bit pricier than our counter parts in the mid west and east coast. Sometimes even more than Southern California.

Re: northern california dealer?

If you are willing to drive a couple of hours to Auburn I think you can get a decent price, especially close to "the end of the month". If you want to see what these guys have, there is an inventory list on their website: Magnussen's Auburn Toyota | Auburn | Folsom | Sacramento . I'm not sure how up to date the on-line inventory is. They may have more than what's on line. Yesterday they had at least 10 on the lot.

I have no idea how they are to deal with as a cold call. I got a great deal (embarrassed to divulge) and a friend in Fresno is going to have them locate a TRD next week. He'll get a good price too based on what I was told.

I'm not sure how these folks are treating "walk-on" customers with the FJs, as my situation is a bit easier there. I just pay the same amount over invoice for all my cars there.

There is a "dealer holdback" on these vehicles, but it's not likely that the dealer will forfeit that. Also, there's a $400 college student incentive at this time, if that helps.

The general sales manager there is David Harrison and a very nice guy. You could call him and just ask him if he'd like to make the drive worth your while. He's the kind of guy that responds best to "the nice guy approach" IMO ('cuz he's a nice guy). If he wanted to work with you (I'm sure that he would in some form) he'd still have a salesman do the deal with you, he'd not do all of it himself. He'd just set the thing up for you.

HTH

Re: northern california dealer?

I should add that these guys have a remarkable repeat customer base. And in fact, nearly every driveway in my neighborhood has at least one car from them.

Re: northern california dealer?

I was very pleased with Esteban, the internet asst. manager, from Hanlee's Hilltop Toyota in Richmond.

I paid MSRP the second week the FJC's were released last Spring; he was easy to work with and not your "stereotypical car salesman" (although they have PLENTY of those at the dealership too!)

No idea what the going rate is now - but I'd expect close to MSRP for the TRD version.

Good luck!

Sandi

Re: northern california dealer?

Just do a Google search for dealers in your area. I found a dealer here in Silicon Valley that had 10 in stock.

I second Jet Lagged's vote for Magnussen's Toyota (aka: Auburn Toyota). I dealt with Billy Rodgers and they did a terrific job. He can be reached at 800-969-8484. PM for deal details.

Hi -- TRD's are in short supply at this point. The last load was to have already been shipped. Also, it's a 4X4 only, no 4X2

I bought mine at Toyota of Vallejo. Costco discount was $800 under MSRP, no haggle. I'm sure you can work a better deal on something in stock. I got their last TRD SE(supposedly)
