All-terrain tires w/ new FJ

O.K., maybe some of you know this, but I did not. When we ordered my wife's FJ, it came with the Dunlop M+S tires. My wife's FJ is a 4 wheel drive. As part of the UPGRADE PKG. #1 with 4X4s, you have the option of the M+S Dunlops or the All-terrains. When I order MY FJ I will make sure I get the ALL-TERRAINS. I know they aren't that much better than the Dunslops, but they do look a bit more aggressive until I fork out the bucks for 285s or 305s!

Which all terrains at what price? You may be better off going w/ the stocks and swapping on your own.

I have a feeling the All Terrain tires they're offering as opposed to the M+S are the Dunlop Grand Trek AT20's that a lot of us got standard down here from SE Toyota.

They're OKAY. I haven't had too much trouble going where my super-swamper equipped trail-mates have. However, I slip and slide A LOT more than drive

I still plan to upgrade to a set of Open Country M/T's as soon as I have the funds.

waterdog:

The all-terrains are listed as N/C on the invoice. If you are purchasing a 4 wheel drive, they are an option as standard equipment. They do not list what manufacturer, however.

They're probably sad. Take them for no charge, but get an ad ready to get rid of them.

Re: All-terrain tires w/ new FJ

I think that 446 Cube is right. If I'd been thinking straight, I'd have dumped the stock tires on e-bay or craigslist the day I brought the rig home so they still had some residual value toward what I really wanted.

Anyway, think about doing that. And good luck!

Re: All-terrain tires w/ new FJ

Do the larger tires make more noise than the regular tires?
