Dealer wants $1250 above invoice (including Sirius installation)

I'm looking to pay $750 above invoice, including Sirius install.

Am I being overly optimistic?

Is this for an '08? If so, I would say probably, but that is IMHO.........

Maybe they will meet you half-way and go $750, or if you do pay the $1K,
they will through in some good "freebies'?

Yes for an 08. I miscalculated, they are adding $1250 including Sirius parts and install.

I guess $500 above invoice + $250 Sirius + $250 install is fair?

Personally, if I was in the market for an '08, I would think anything well under MSRP and anywhere near Invoice would be a great deal.

Just FYI.........When I got my FJ, in March, '06, I struggled to get one AT MSRP and not over!! Since it was brand new and that it had just come out, many dealers were charging over MSRP! The closest dealer to me was charging a whopping $5000 OVER MSRP and morons were paying it!! I would not, though, as shopped around until I found the exact spec's I wanted @MSRP and I was a happy camper!

I'm just reading here that people are paying below invoice. carsdirect is about $500 above, but they cant find the one I want. I think I will agree to $1k above including Sirius.

Yeah I remember, I was looking then too. It's the same thing now with the TT edition, which I was also looking at but black > white.

Maybe its because I live on Florida's east coast, but I don't think I would EVER get a vehicle for less than invoice! Unless, of course, I bought one of the last remaining FJ's on the lot from the prior year, like if I were to try and get an '07 today.

Re: Dealer wants $1000 above invoice (including Sirius installation)

Depends on where you shop and some other factors...Some people are getting 2008 models at or slightly below invoice now. I found it pretty easy to get $500 over invoice.

I have been offered $1,500 over invoice on a S/E TT. I have to see what they will offer for my trade in....Should know something next week

Re: Dealer wants $1000 above invoice (including Sirius installation)

With the economy the way it is dealers should be a lot more willing to negotiate. If were hurting why should they still be making out. I had to visit four dealers before I got what I was looking for. I was able to get $500 below invoice on an 08 Black Diamond with CQ package, Off road package, hitch, roof rack, tire cover, all weather mats, spare tire cover,
first aid kit(can't believe they made me pay for that), and dealer installed bluetooth which they wanted $475 dollars. I told the dealer I wanted to pay $500 below the invoice they showed me and he said it was impossible. They had about 42 08 fjs on the lot so I knew the deal was possible. 1/2 hour later I got up and walked out as I had done at the previous dealers and as I was literally driving away the dealer was running after me. To make things even better I was able to negotiate my financing almost 2 points lower.

From my experience it takes a little bit of work to get the deal you want and you might have to purchase from a dealer that may not be your first or second choice. I would also make sure that the dealer knows up front that the FJ is not something you need, but something you want. This may help you out by putting the dealer in a position of working harder for your business. It is a lot easier to walk away from a want rather than a need. Well thats how its supposed to work anyway.

Re: Dealer wants $1000 above invoice (including Sirius installation)

I say go find a used one with $5000.00 in aftermarket add for free. You can find a use one that has never even gone off a curb. I have seen 2 08's with mods sell here in SLC in the last month. Both for under 28k.
