Given the low percentage of MT Trail Teams trucks that will be built......good luck with chiseling a deal a few hundred over invoice.

I watched someone while I was visiting the dealership last Saturday look at the TT in stock, leave to "think it over" and it sold before he drove away.

I couldn't even get a pic of that bling-a-licious rear skid plate.

This thing looks unbelievably better in person than I could have imagined.
Did you go look at the same one I did this last weekend?

It does look better in person. I tried to talk Stacey's dad into it, so in 4 years it would be just right for Makayla, but it didn't work (yet).

If they don't sell at what they previously agreed to in writing (I hope) you have the opportunity to turn into "the crazy guy that will be on the news tonight" in front of a whole showroom of folks.
Just ask em for a copy of the invoice?
here is a copy of his reply that I said another dealer offered 500 over invoice.

i was inquiring about the TT that they had on the lot from their first allotment,

"I can beat that price by $200 and if your trade is nice I will be able to give you a very fair value for it. I have this FJ on our lot, so when can you come up so I can look at your trade? Let me know, and I will make sure that I am available."

whats the best way to handle it initially?

"look, you told me one price, after doing some research, i thought that, based on your quote of $300 over invoice, it was a bit high. It turns out that it is way off f what you said you would sell the vehicle for"
something like that? Never been the crazy guy on the show room floor. Pretty mello for the most part. as a dealer will they just tell me take it or leave it since its an SE or will they, management etc, want to save face?

Re: Invoice price on Trail Team package

I bought my TT last Friday. I traded-in my MT TRD SE for the beautiful beast! Just washed it an hour ago and it is so nice not worrying about the black paint!

The "best way" to handle it is to offer $500 over invoice (offer them a chance to "live up to their word"). Leave the trade out of the transaction at this point. Once you see the invoice for your vehicle (ask him to email you a VIN inquiry with invoices figures intact) and derive your price at $500 over, get the trade appraised.

Beware of vague offers and lures to "come in so we can look at your trade" The trade is worth what the trade is worth, it's your job to maximize what you get for it and that has nothing to do with the pre-established offer to sell at $500 over invoice. (which I suspect is bogus on a TT edition)

Get them to tell you what selling price is for the (your) FJ, in an e-mail, before you drive anywhere. Negotiate your trade up, even take it to Carmax and get a bid to buy from them.

I always find it funny when someone asks if the dealer will "want to save face"? Most dealership management personnel would rather make a buck than "save face" any time the choice is offered.

Re: Invoice price on Trail Team package

By the way...the dealer took $1,000 off of MSRP. That was better than the full MSRP that I paid for my TRD SE a year ago! The dealer hooked me up with my trade, interest rate, etc. I got into the TT for only $12 more a month than what I was paying before for my '07; well worth it IMO.

Re: Invoice price on Trail Team package

You only live once...what's a few hundred dollars, really? Buy what you can afford or when you can afford it; but always buy what you want. Don't let your dream vehicle slip away because you wanted a better deal, just suck it up and go for it; within reason of course. Best of luck and hope to hear some good news from you soon!
