It is a double edged sword for me, part of me says well, hell dont let your people make offers that cant be accepted, then the other, more caring and rational side realizes that it can happen to any of us in our jobs. specially in the service industry, so I'll pay their extra money but you better believe that I am going to ***** about it when I am driving off in that white beauty.
Make sure you remind them of the survey you shall receive from Toyota asking about this "superb" sales experience. (expect a call from Toyota after they receive it, if you blast them)

I have always tried hard to be a man of my word and this type stuff makes me glad I escaped the car biz. The car business is "no country for honest men".

Brother,
I am a salesman's dream (don't feel bad) I'll tell them how to sell me if they'll listen to me.

I know what I want from all the research I've done (I'm quick) I know what it should cost (I don't mind a reasonable profit).

But most importantly......if I want it....I'm getting it! (I can be closed)

Re: can dealer change their price?

Not sure how it is in your state but unless you have taken delivery of the vehicle, you don't have a leg to stand on in this case. What has probably happened is when you walked the first time, the dealer gave you a buyers order with a price they couldn't do so that when you shop it at other dealers, they couldn't do it either which would bring you back to them. Pretty common amongst certain dealers. I'd pay more at another dealer because they jacked you around.

Re: can dealer change their price?

If you've got to pay more, beat 'um up on the back end - have them give you 15 oil changes and the 30K service for free. Let them paint seal or undercoat the thing if you go for that stuff. There are plenty of other things you can negotiate for that $1000!
