Re: can dealer change their price?

if the price and deposit information is on the signed agreement, i dont think they can change it. get a hold of someone that knows. then ask for the GM, which they will tell you it doesnt work that way, you need to talk to so and so, then so and so... dont let them. walk in there and speak directly to the general manager of the dealership. or find out who owns the place, if they are local, talk to them.

Re: can dealer change their price?

I bet what happened was is this....the dealer was processing his paperwork through the sales manager, the sales manager had a fit because you got it for $500 over invoice, effecting his commission and bottom line. That's why they called you and told you that.

It happened to a buddy of mine, he was all set to buy a new truck, and then come to find out, his sales guy wasn't going to get the commission he wanted, so he squashed the whole deal.

If I were you, I'd call out your original salesperson, if he can't give you a straight answer, then go to the GM!! And make sure you have copies of everything you signed.

Re: can dealer change their price?

Sounds like this guy has someone who is willing to pay more. That is lame. I hope you are able to lock them to the price. I'll bet if you changed your mind after it came in that deposit would be gone and they would not see it the same way.

Re: can dealer change their price?

i dont think legally they can change it. the same way that once you sign upon a certain interest rate, if you dont get it, you dont have to accept the new offer, but if you do get it everyone has to agree to it.

i had a ton of trouble with a dealership last year with my girlfriends new car. i ended up making them eat our brand new car with 2k miles on it. basically drove it from AZ to CA for free because the dealership screwed up in so many ways and did a few illegal things in the process.

OK so here is the scoop, Dealerships can do anything they want to untill you sign on the bottom line.. It really SUCKS for you as it is the worst business pratice THEY can ever do.. Sorry to hear it and these guys should be shot and taken out of the business..
It just gives another reason for customers to hate dealerships and it is FUBAR

It is just like you can tell a dealership you will buy the vehicle and when it comes in you say no I don't want it. They can't make you take it..

Now if you want to get the TT at the price you agreed upon, then this is what you do..

Call and talk to the GM, Don't take no for an answer when they tell you he doesn't talk to customers.
Tell him what happened and that you are very upset. So up set you are calling the news and talking to them if he doesn't make it right. He will do 1 of 2 things

1) tell you to pound sand and hang up. (or somthing like that)
2) he will do it..

IF He chooses option 1 then have your wife call and ask for him and say she is one of the news anouncers from the local station and that she would like to ask him a few questions.. He will call you asap before he talks to her..

But I think he will make it happen he doesn't want any bad publicity about his dealership at all...

Hope this helps...

I've got to try that myself when I go to buy a new FJ in a few years, if they have a diesel, hybrid, V-8, and/or convertible top options. Or maybe some new color choices, like green, red, or orange?!?!

Re: can dealer change their price?

well not sure how things are working on the mainland but it seems i see on here lots of people complaining about stealerships trying to rip them off. So I am going to put in a good word for the Servco Toyo dealer here on Oahu I had no problems or issues i went to the lot ended up talking to the internet dealer guy they had one black diamond 08 that i wanted someone had already put 500 dollars down on so I told him confirm that please. He spent two hours on the phone than as i was bout to leave he came out said guess the guy just backed out credit no good and i said sold! i got it for a good price considering the limited market here in hawaii. tow days later redid all the stereo stuff and my windows would not roll down figured i missed something. took it to the stealership they said you did something wrong i said fix it they gave me a free rental car call me next day i forgot to plug the plug back in for that switch inside the door. they never charged me they took my truck and washed and detailed it again, they have been very helpful and nice so far.
