so cal looking for dealer advice

I am in southern california (OC) and am looking to buy an FJ new. What is the best dealer? I plan to pay cash, but don't know if I should let them know that up front.

I tried the internet dept. of one dealer who emailed me back saying that no such car was in the inventory of any delaer in the continental U.S. I find that very hard to believe. What I requested was a tan color, manual trans., and black steel wheels. I also wanted the roof rack/tow hitch combo package and some other common, but seemingly likely to be dealer-added, options.

Am I missing something here? Did I really express interest in a rare vehicle?

Any suggestions that one can give as to dealers in my area, or on how to approach getting a tan/manual/black wheels fj would be sincerely appreciated!

I can't help you with color or options, But you should shop at Toyota of Huntington Beach. See Clint. Whatever you do, do not go to Elmore Toyota in Westminster. They are crooks and cons. Stay clear and far from them. T. of HB. Has always treated me good. I bought 3 new cars from them in a 2 year period from Clint. Service is great and fast. Hope this helps and welcome.

I've heard nothing but great things about Toyota of Huntington Beach. I also have to give praise to Jules at Longo Toyota in El Monte. He sold me my FJ and it was great service!

But i can't help you with how to acquire the options you want. sounds like you may need to talk to dealer, and see if there are any available in the southland or just order one.

Usually, if you let them know that you are going to pay cash, they give you a slight discount. Always go through the internet sales department or the fleet sales to get your lowest price. Adam Chi from Longo Toyota is very good...I bought my car from him and he went so low on the price that almost got himself fired for it. I also heard Claremont is pretty good too.

Re: so cal looking for dealer advice

I was taken care of very well by Justin Werner at Toyota Carlsbad he is their internet guy. Just E-mail them and they send you a very detailed response based on what you are asking for. They also gave me a good offer on my trade.
2007 4x4 auto, roof rack, upgrade package 2, side air bags sticker $30,640, sale price $26,740, minus rebate $24,740. My only negotation was to have the driving lights thrown in, they agreed for the same price.

I purchased mine from Longo. It was fairly painless. I've subsequently returned for some maintenance and warranty repairs. Very good experience so far.

Re: so cal looking for dealer advice

I am in the Victorville area of the High Desert, I bought my FJ in Barstow at Soutar's Toyota. I paid 300 over invoice (they had no prob with showing me the invoice). 27,000 for a auto with CQ, GY, RB, UP, CF, C7. From Orange County you looking at a 1.5 hour drive. My sticker was 31,106 and I paid 27,000 (also cash). I'd drive a few hours to save 4,000. PM if you need more info on them.

I was just at Longo Toyota in El Monte.... They HAD TONS of Sand Storm FJ's on steelies with racks, and hitches...... so that guy was smoking crack.
Just offer to take the car off their hands at invoice...or maybe $100-200 over TOPS!

Re: so cal looking for dealer advice

I've heard really good things about Longo...I think I'll check them out this weekend.

I find buying a new car frustrating.

One dealer emails me an "internet price" of $25k, for a car which should cost $29k plus....I get optimistic, go there, but dealer doesn't have the car, and wants $30k for one which shouldn't cost any more than the one I requested.

Another dealer wants $28k plus for a demo which has some equipment I want, some I don't want, doesn't have some I need (roof rack and trailer hitch) and hasn't told me the mileage.

My car has to be out there somewhere, and I have to believe in today's market some poor schmuck dealer will be willing to part with it for $25k.

So, am I being unreasonable in wanting exactly what I want for a great price?

They have to be still making a couple grand on it at $25 k, right.

Basically, I want:

FJ, New

Convenience package
Off road package
roof rack
rock rails
trailer hitch

tan, brick, or silver

locking diff a must

affectionate petite brunette bikini model option would be a must

How*&^%$ing tough can that be?
