Yeah, I think some folks went out and bought the FJ cause it was cute and retro and different. They have no clue what it is all about. It is not a vehicle for the masses. It doesn't have enough buttons and baubles for most folks. I, on the other hand, love mine and will never sell it!
that's exactly right, VDM! It's not for everyone, and I'm glad it's not.

For some reason people think we paid about $50,000 for this thing and it must be loaded with all kinds of bells and whistles, leather, navigation, onstar, the works. I think they are disappointed that it's not a Land Cruiser 100 Series when they get in it. But these are folks who are going to drive it to pick up the kids and the groceries and put it back in the garage. They will never use a rear locker, don't have a clue about all the built in offroading goodies, and could care less about the button that turns on ATRAC. They need to go climb something!

Re: sell em sell em!

SUV's sales are down for every make, especially true SUV's like the FJ. The crossovers are trying to gain back some of the market. The more gas goes up the more people want something more economical.

I agree that some might think that the FJ is a Hummer like 50K SUV.

Re: sell em sell em!

I am going to take mine down to Berkeley and have it cloned.

Seriously though, I wouldn't listen to the salesmen. They told me at first that there was no room to deal on the listed price. I had no problem with the price but, treated it like a game that I had the winning hand in. I walked out paying 5g's less : )
I am so amped with my Cruiser that I might get another one and mod the heck out of it to cartoon status and keep "9-Ball" set up as is because it is perfect for what I use it for.

The FJ is not for everyone and I like it like that. It is the perfect vehicle for me and I would never dream of buying anything else but a new one, no matter how high gas prices go!

That's exactly how I feel also. I am seeing a few more FJC on the highways around here lately but today pulled up along side 2 FJC today but when I tired to get a little eye contact from the drivers the 2 women that were driving just looked straight ahead.

See? There should be some kind of application required before you are allowed to purchase and FJ.

Re: sell em sell em!

Remember the thread about the FJ being a "wife's vehicle" or something like that? I've had the same issue with Jeep drivers for years. Not many "young people" or women will make eye contact and/or wave. The 'young people" will look at you like "who the $%## is that" and the women will look right through you. Sometimes they'll wave..
