My FJ was at the dealer yesterday to get some dings out (another post) for free and while I was there I chatted with the sales guy YET AGAIN.
Now I tend to take anything a car salesman tells me with a/grain so... he was telling me that Toyota is making more FJs than they can sell. He said that he's being pressured to sell them but they are not selling anymore. Well to the volume Toyota wants. He says that corporate is blaming salesman and will not slow down production. so he asked me if anyone wanted an FJ and he'd try to work out a good price.
A few months ago when I was in for an oil change the same sales guy told me they are not ordering anymore FJs since they do not sell anymore, now he is saying they are getting too many and are being forced to sell them. when they do not sell they are getting the blame for not doing their job. that supply exceeds demand at this time.
anyone think this? I kinda wished I bought my FJ today because it does seem like they are working with the price and you are getting more options. When I bought mine it was flat out NO DEALS.
i know this dealer i go to has seen FJs "returned" in great numbers. He said he has never seen any other car be traded in so fast. And he said he always feels terrible because they rape em. But people are trading in their FJs for Highlander Hybrids, 4Runners, Pilots, Odyssey, Land Rovers, its amazing. Like people didn't think before they bought the truck.

Yeah, I think some folks went out and bought the FJ cause it was cute and retro and different. They have no clue what it is all about. It is not a vehicle for the masses. It doesn't have enough buttons and baubles for most folks. I, on the other hand, love mine and will never sell it!

People are starting to get scared with gas prices going up, FJC now getting a gas guzzler tax slapped on, and the economy looking like it's going to hell in a hand basket. Looks like we bought ours about the same time (mine in June '06) even paying cash best deal I found got me only $500 off MSRP!
