Just bought my new FJ!
First post here, but I've read hundreds of posts in the last week or so trying to decide about buying a new 2008 FJ Cruiser.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed here (and in the newbie discussions, general discussions and other forums)! Without this community and the wealth of info, I don't know if I would have bought my FJ and I KNOW I wouldn't have got such a good deal!
I was able to decide what options were important to me, locate some available FJs in inventory nearby and get a great deal!
I decided on an automatic (4x4 of course), with CQ convenience package and DL differential locks, but after looking all around I was able to find one with the OF All Terrain Package, Roof Rack and All Weather Mats for about the same price!
I found all the dealers within 250 miles from the Toyota web site, searched each dealers inventory on the dealer web sites, and found about 10-12 FJS that fit my needs. I sent out requests for a quote to six dealers and then called my local dealership's sales manager to see if I had the bases covered and get a quote from him. He offered to transfer in an FJ with CQ/DL (the only two he had were CQ/UR+) for me at $500 over invoice plus sales tax, tag, and title. I was pretty sure I could do better.
My quotes started to come back and several of them looked pretty good. But one of the dealers one state over had posted a price on their web site that was REALLY good. After looking over my other options I made a down payment today for the FJ he offered me. It was below invoice minus the 5k, and I'm happy and satisfied with my purchase.
